The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust (WWCT) is a registered scientific and education charity established in 1957 and based in Devon, UK. The WWCT owns three zoological parks: Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Living Coasts, a marine life exhibit on Torquay's harbourside, both in Torbay, South Devon and Newquay Zoo in Cornwall. The Trust also owns three nature reserves in South Devon: Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve and two local wildlife sites, Primley Park and Clennon Gorge, in Paignton.
The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust is an education, scientific and conservation charity dedicated to protecting our global wildlife heritage and inspiring in people a respect for animals, plants and the environment.
The WWCT is dedicated to conserving our global wildlife heritage through:
- The advancement of public education
- The promotion of scientific and educational study and research, and the publication of the useful results of all such study and research
- The conservation and preservation, for the benefit of the public, of animals and plants and their environment
- The provision of facilities for the recreation, and other leisure time occupation, of the public generally, and the inhabitants of Paignton in particular, in the interests of social welfare with a view to improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities are provided.
